Vehicles drive through a water-filled bay or spray arch that uses high-pressure jets to blast mud, dirt, and debris from tires, wheel arches, and undercarriages. Most systems clean a vehicle in under 60 seconds and include water recycling to minimise fresh water consumption. They prevent "track-out" — the transfer of site mud onto public roads — which is both a compliance issue and a safety hazard.
